Dorothy Wainwright opened the first Wainwright office out of her home at the Virginia Beach oceanfront in 1951. The nearby city of Norfolk was a long distance call and the local Multiple Listing Service consisted of note cards with details of the individual properties listed on them.

Their son Bob Jr. joined in 1968, and began offering agents the World's Best Commission Split in 1988. 

Bob Wainwright III joined in 1995 and served as the Principal Broker until 2017.

Nash Wainwright joined in 2008 and is the current Principal Broker.

In 2020, Brooke Wainwright, Nash's daughter, joined the company and runs the administrative side of the Company.

In 2022, Drake Wainwright, Nash's son, joined the Company and works in the property management division.
